The Higonokami No 5 Folder Blue Paper Steel is a simple folding knife that is very much simple, utilitarian and inexpensive. The blade is a tanto type shape with the spine moving up as it reaches the tip, very much a Japanese design that has changed for a very long time.

The knife opens with a top flipper type opening, which you can use to move the blade open by pressing down with your index finger. There is no locking system, but by putting your thumb over this flipper, you effectively keep the blade open when you are doing your cutting.

Alternatively you may open the blade with your other hand thumb and index finger by gripping the blade as there is a small opening in the handle. The handles are made from stainless steel and the slim profile of the knife will allow it to be the ideal pocket knife.
