One simple, fairly well balanced and portable meal that you can consider for your next outdoor meal is sardine pasta.

Ingredients:
  1. 1 tin of sardine in tomato sauce
  2. Macaroni/pasta (small variety works best)
  3. 1 carrot (optional, for a more balanced meal)
  4. Salt and oil (if have, not essential)
Method of preparation

Boil Water

Step 1:

Bring the water to a boil. Now consider your servings. One person could consume 100g to 200g of uncooked pasta, depending on how hungry he is and how much he normally eats. There should be an almost equal amount of sardine to the pasta in terms of its net weight for a good ratio of the two.

Add in pasta to boiling water

Step 2:

Put the macaroni into boiling water to cook. Add in salt and oil if available. You could be resourceful and open the can of sardine and skim the top (there is an obvious layer of oil) and add that in. Put the carrot inside as well. Skin (Carrots skin easily, just slide the blade of your knife along the carrot to remove it's skin) and cut it into circles.

Add in the sardines

Step 3:

Once the macaroni is ready, pour away the excess water. Add in the sardine and mix it well.

Mix sardine and pasta

Step 4:

You can reduce the flame size so that your sardine will heat up. Off the fire once the whole meal is hot. You could choose to skip this step.

Thats it! An easy to cook meal that tastes great and is practical for camping.
