Changi Beach Park
Changi Beach Park is not divided into areas, like the other beach parks in Singapore. However, there are 3 distinct areas within Changi Beach Park.
Western Changi Beach Park
This part of Changi Beach Park is located closest to Changi Village. It is located just across Changi Point Ferry Terminal by Sungei Changi, from which you can travel to Pulau Ubin and Pengerang, South-East Malaysia. This part has nice beaches and nothing really noteworthy going on. It is just beside Changi Village however, so you have easy access to many comforts from Changi Village Nasi Lemak to 7-11.
This section of the park comes to an end at Car Park 4. Car Park 4 is quite a nice car park as it is directly inline with the runway at Changi Airport. This means you can see planes land and take off just over you, making for an interesting but noisy experience.
The Concrete Coast
The concrete coast starts from Car Park 4 and ends at SAF ferry terminal. There is nothing going on here, other than perhaps good fishing locations. Changi Coast Road also comes just beside the walking track making vehicle pollution apparent.
The Casuarina Forest
The Casuarina Forest is the huge stretch of land from Car Park 6 to Car Park 7. This is the designated camping area and is pretty long. The area is dominated by casuarina trees (hence me naming it the Casuarina Forest) and you somehow feel you are not really in Singapore. With the road not too close, the only sound you will hear are of the planes from Changi
Airport.
I feel that this is one of the best areas to camp in Singapore, with decent grounds and if the sea breeze is coming in, it is really a nice location. Just remember to bring along all your needs as you will be at most times, some distance from civilization.
Getting there:
Bus: Changi Village Bus Terminal (Western Changi Beach Park) - Bus Numbers 2, 29, 59 and 109
Telok Paku Road (The Concrete Coast) - Buses 9, 19 and 89
Driving: Changi Beach Park is located right at the North-Eastern corner of Singapore.
From TPE: Exit at Loyang Avenue (Exit 2) and follow it up North.
From ECP: Exit at Changi Coast Road (Exit 2) and follow it around the airport. It is a fair distance as your skirt around the airport, but you will eventually arrive at the park, which will be on your right hand side.
Cycling: Changi Beach Park is part of the Coastal Bike Route. You can cycle there from East Coast Park all the way on a dedicated park connector track. You can also cycle into the park from Changi Coast Road or Loyang Avenue.
