How much Firewood for a Campfire?
Campfires tend to vary in length and style and thus have different firewood requirements. A typical one and a half hour campfire should require 2-3sacks of wood (better to have 3, more wood is better than less). Each sack should contain 50 'regular' sized pieces of wood.
But the amount of wood you require should vary based on the following:
An average sized fire (with a starting pile of 50 to 60 pieces of wood) should use up 150 pieces in total in one and a half hours. The longer the campfire, more wood is needed. The shorter the campfire, less wood is needed.
Size of Fire
Looking at an average-sized fire (defined as a fire bright enough for 70-100 people), the rate of wood used to sustain the fire should be around 20-30 pieces every half an hour. Smaller fires would use around 10-15 pieces every half an hour and big fires or bonfires would use around up to 50 pieces of wood every half an hour (small logs would be better for bigger fires rather than split wood).
Fueled Wood
If you have added any kind of flammable liquid to wood (for example kerosene), it would speed up the rate of burning depending on what you have added in and in what quantity.
Wind Conditions
The more wind that is blowing, the more air will be available to fuel the fire. Hence windier conditions increase the amount of wood that is being used. In Singapore, since there is seldom strong wind and if there is any, it is blocked, wind is negligible.
Density of Wood
The more dense the wood you use, the slower it burns.
